چکیده

Abstract. We estimated pelagic primary production (PP) in the coastal (<200 m depth) Mediterranean Sea from satellite-borne data, its contribution to basin-scale carbon fixation, variability, and long-term trends during period 2002–2016. Annual PP was at 0.041 Gt C, which approximately represents 12 % of total fixation Sea. About 51 this occurs eastern basin, whereas western Adriatic shelves contribute with ?25 each production. Strong regional variability is revealed PP, high-production areas (>300 g C m?2) associated major river discharges less productive provinces (<50 located southeastern Mediterranean. dominated by interannual variations, but a notable decline (17 %) has been observed since 2012 concurring increasing sea surface temperatures positive North Atlantic Oscillation climate indices. Long-term reveal slight declines most (?0.05 ?0.1 m?2 per decade) except where increases +0.1 decade. Regionalization waters based on seasonal patterns reveals importance effluents determining that can regionally increase up 5-fold. Our study provides insight into balances while highlighting different temporal spatial scales variability.

Springtime Contribution of Dinitrogen Fixation to Primary Production Across the Mediterranean Sea

Dinitrogen (N2) fixation rates were measured during early spring across the different provinces of Mediterranean Sea surface waters. N2 fixation rates, measured using N2 enriched seawater, were lowest in the eastern basin and increased westward with a maximum at the Strait of Gibraltar (0.10 to 2.35 nmol N L−1 d−1, respectively). These rates were 3–7 fold higher than N2 fixation rates measured ...

contribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.

this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...

The Contribution of Improved Altimetry to a Study of Nw Mediterranean Sea Coastal Dynamics

Monitoring the dynamics of marginal oceanic systems remains a complex and challenging task, owing to the wide spectrum of spatial and temporal scales of the oceanic processes occurring there. On one hand, sustained in situ observations are generally too sparse in coastal areas despite the development of initiatives by international programs. On the other hand, remote sensing techniques for rout...

Importance of coastal primary production in the northern Baltic Sea

In this study, we measured depth-dependent benthic microalgal primary production in a Bothnian Bay estuary to estimate the benthic contribution to total primary production. In addition, we compiled data on benthic microalgal primary production in the entire Baltic Sea. In the estuary, the benthic habitat contributed 17 % to the total annual primary production, and when upscaling our data to the...
